—  About

I use the alternative process of Platinum/Palladium printing to create one of a kind prints that can last a lifetime or more.

Platinum printing is based on the light sensitivity of ferric oxalate. Ferric oxalate is reduced to ferrous oxalate by UV-light. The ferrous oxalate then reacts with platinum or palladium reducing it to elemental platinum (or palladium), which builds up the image.

By varying the amount of platinum versus palladium and because of the non-uniformity of the coating and mixing phases of the process, no two prints are exactly the same.

Platinum prints are the most durable of all photographic processes. The platinum group metals are very stable against chemical reactions that might degrade the print—even more stable than gold. It is estimated that a platinum image, properly made, can last hundreds of years.

Each print is made by hand and the contact negative used is created and printed in studio by myself. One-of-a-kind commissioned prints are shipped with the destroyed half-negative to insure only one exists as requested.

I also use modern printing techniques and equipment to produce beautiful prints for any home or office.
